Samsung SmartCam is a free Android application that allows you to view live video and utilize audio communication from any of your network cameras.

SmartCam mobile is an app designed for Hanwha Techwin's home monitoring products, and it might not be able to be integrated with other products. Supported models are continuously updated with bug fixes and new features. The app is supported by Android versions 4.4 and higher. It's recommended to run the app on a smartphone Galaxy S5 or higher, but SmartCam will also run on lower performing smartphones and tablets.

Samsung SmartCam has a variety of features. It can be used to view live video from monitoring software in an H.264 supported format. There's also a notification service for events and alarms. Video monitoring can be accomplished with both Wi-Fi and 3G connections, depending on your location and the way you want to use your data. There's two-way audio communication available, making it great for parents who want to check in with their little ones while they're away from home.

The number of users might be limited depending on the amount of network traffic and the network connectivity. In Profile Change mode, the audio playback might not run smoothly; if you run into this problem, use normal mode instead.

Permissions required by SmartCam

  • ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION: Allows an app to access precise location. Alternatively, you might want ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION.
  • ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Allows applications to access information about networks.
  • ACCESS_WIFI_STATE: Allows applications to access information about Wi-Fi networks.
  • CHANGE_NETWORK_STATE: Allows applications to change network connectivity state.
  • CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE: Allows applications to enter Wi-Fi Multicast mode.
  • CHANGE_WIFI_STATE: Allows applications to change Wi-Fi connectivity state.
  • DISABLE_KEYGUARD: Allows applications to disable the keyguard if it is not secure.
  • GET_TASKS
  • INTERNET: Allows applications to open network sockets.
  • MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS: Allows an application to modify global audio settings.
  • READ_PHONE_STATE: Allows read only access to phone state, including the phone number of the device, current cellular network information, the status of any ongoing calls, and a list of any PhoneAccounts registered on the device.
  • RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: Allows an application to receive the ACTION_BOOT_COMPLETED that is broadcast after the system finishes booting. If you don't request this permission, you will not receive the broadcast at that time. Though holding this permission does not have any security implications, it can have a negative impact on the user experience by increasing the amount of time it takes the system to start and allowing applications to have themselves running without the user being aware of them. As such, you must explicitly declare your use of this facility to make that visible to the user.
  • RECORD_AUDIO: Allows an application to record audio.
  • RESTART_PACKAGES
  • SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW: Allows an app to create windows using the type TYPE_SYSTEM_ALERT, shown on top of all other apps. Very few apps should use this permission; these windows are intended for system-level interaction with the user.
  • VIBRATE: Allows access to the vibrator.
  • WAKE_LOCK: Allows using PowerManager WakeLocks to keep processor from sleeping or screen from dimming.
  • WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Allows an application to write to external storage.
  • WRITE_SETTINGS: Allows an application to read or write the system settings.
  • com.google.android.c2dm.permission.RECEIVE
  • com.google.android.finsky.permission.BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE
  • com.techwin.shc.permission.C2D_MESSAGE
